Second Language Conversations -
Simple Songs for Pupils and Puppets

Available in French, English, Indonesian, Japanese and German Editions (songs in the respective language and instructions in English)

Each kit includes a cassette recording of the songs with accompaniments only on the reverse side

This new resource uses simple songs set to familiar tunes (There's a Hole in the Bucket, Polly Put the Kettle On ....) and is directed at the primary classroom.
Just as nursery rhymes learned as a child are never forgotten, simple songs with well-known melodies can be used to teach language both to children and adults.
The songs in this new book and the accompanying cassette are designed to teach basic vocabulary and grammar using questions and answers on a variety of themes.
Suggestions for the use of puppets are included to help motivate younger children.
The songs only are translated into the relevant language.

About Patricia Beaton

Her first book Australian Animal Rounds was written in 1988 when Pat was looking for some original Australian material for her classes. All of these songs are original and Pat feels it is her best material.

The second book Bilingual Action Songs and Games – Jeux d’action et chansons bilingues (re-published in France by Armand Colin) has already sold two thousand copies in Australia. This book uses some traditional tunes with new words written by Pat, and some original material of Pat’s, all of which have lyrics written especially to teach and re-inforce vocabulary and various language concepts. Thus there is a table  at the front of the book which categorises the songs by themes and language concepts – animals, colours, rhythm, days, months, time, comparatives, grammar – tenses, parts of speech, numbers, parts of the body, direction – right and left, etc.
